What is TAA auction?

TAA stands for Toyota Auto Auction, a major used-vehicle auction network operated by the Toyota group. TAA holds regular auctions at multiple venues across Japan, with a particularly strong concentration of Toyota and Lexus inventory (though all major Japanese brands are represented).

TAA auction sheets follow the same standard grading system as USS — overall grade 0–S, interior/exterior letter grades A–E, the same car-map codes for panel-level defects.

Used cars exported from Japan typically come through one of four auction networks:

1. USS — largest, broadest brand mix, ~100k vehicles/week
2. TAA — Toyota / Lexus heavy, weekly across Japan
3. JU — multi-brand co-op auctions across regional groups
4. HAA — historically Honda-affiliated, broad inventory now

For a Sri Lankan buyer looking for a specific Toyota (Aqua, Vitz, Corolla, Vellfire), TAA is often the first auction we check — pricing is usually marginally tighter than USS for the same spec because of the higher Toyota/Lexus volume on the floor.
